Description:Cardiovascular disease (CVD) affects nearly one-half of adults and continues to place significant economic and health burdens on the United States. CDC’s “Best Practices Guide for Heart Disease and Stroke,” first published in 2017, aims to inform decision-making by translating a complex body of evidence into strategies public health practitioners can use to prevent and manage CVD in their communities and practices. Following an evaluation of the 2017 version of the Best Practices Guide (BPG) and input from subject matter experts and partners, the second version was developed and launched in late 2022. The second version of the BPG includes updated evidence reviews for the original eight strategies, ten new strategies, and expanded discussions around health equity impact. This Coffee Break will provide an overview of the latest “Best Practices Guide for Heart Disease and Stroke,” highlight new additions and features, and discuss how public health practitioners can navigate BPG content.
