Description:We detected human metapneumovirus (HMPV) in 72 (7.1%) of 1,021 patients hospitalized with severe acute respiratory infection in Luohe, China, during 2017-2019. We detected HMPV most frequently in young children and less often in adults. HMPV genotype A2c variants 111 nt and 180 nt duplications predominated, demonstrating their continuing geographic spread.
