Description:Neuropsychological tests used to evaluate the behavioral effects of industrial toxins are reviewed. Studies on the neurotoxic effects of inorganic lead (7439921), carbon-disulfide (75150), trichloroethylene (79016), perchloroethylene (127184), mercury (7439976), styrene (100425), and various pesticides are discussed. Behavioral and cognitive changes associated with exposures to these agents are described, and test batteries used to determine the extent of impairment are evaluated. Problems in damage assessment also are discussed, including documentation of prior exposures, test replicability, experimental inadequacies, lack of test standardization, and exposure quantification.
