Description:Air sampling for asbestos (1332214) was conducted at the Pittsburgh Corning Company (SIC-1799), in Tyler, Texas, during March, 1967. Sampling was performed with an impinger and a membrane filter. Samples taken with an impinger ranged from 0.1 million particles per cubic foot (mppcf) around the curing area to 51.4mppcf in the mixing area. Membrane filter samples contained 2.5 fibers greater than 5 microns in length per cubic centimeter (f/cc) in the curing area to 355.56f/cc around the mixing operations area. Dust concentrations measured by the impinger exceeded the current Threshold Limit Valve of 5mppcF in several locations.
