  A walk-through survey was conducted by NIOSH at the American Enka Company, Lowland, Tennessee, on June 1-2, 1977, to evaluate the plant for possible inclusion in a cross sectional medical and reproductive study of the effects of exposure to carbon-disulfide (75150). Products currently produced at this site are rayon staple, nylon staple, polyester staple, nylon filament, polyester filament (SIC-2824), and sodium-sulfate (7757826) (SIC-2819). Descriptions are given of: the workforce; personnel record system; safety, industrial hygiene and medical programs; and processes. The plant appears to have an excellent worker population for the carbon- disulfide study.
