  A walk-through survey was conducted by NIOSH at the DuPont May Plant, Camden, South Carolina, on July 7-8, 1977, to determine whether this facility would be suitable for a combined epidemiological and industrial hygiene survey pertaining to potential reproductive health effects resulting from worker exposure to N,N-dimethylformamide (68122). Dimethylformamide is used in the production of acrylic fiber (SIC-2824). This site is not recommended as a potential site for a study of reproductive health effects in women since only about 30 women are employed in the acrylic fiber plants, and those only in relatively low exposure areas. It might be possible to pursue the question of potential mutagenic effects via a study of pregnancy outcome in wives of male workers. [Description provided by NIOSH]
