Description:Estimates of the characteristics and diagnostic conditions of patients 12–19 years of age discharged from non-Federal short-stay hospitals during 1980 are presented in this report. The statistics in this report are based on data collected through the National Hospital Discharge Survey, a continuous voluntary survey conducted by the National Center for Health Statistics since 1965. Approximately 224,000 medical records from 420 participating hospitals were included in the 1980 survey.
