Description:We assessed the child protective services (CPS) histories of children with medical encounters for self-harm (SH) using linked medical and CPS data. Most children with SH had prior CPS reports (61.0%), but few had foster care placements (5.9%). CPS histories may be important to understand, treat, and prevent pediatric SH.
