Description:The California supplement for the Guide to the Development of a Pesticide Health Hazard Management Program, developed by the Bureau of Community Health Services, United States Public Health Service, is presented. Profiles of trends in monthly pesticides use of each California county are given. The profiles are intended to be used by clinicians with patients that have symptoms or signs of pesticide poisoning and a history of occupational exposure to pesticides. The profiles indicate when pesticides are used within each of three chemical classes: organophosphates, carbamates, and dipyridyls. A listing of regional poison control centers and the agricultural commissioners for each county is given. A list of laboratories certified for cholinesterase testing by the California Department of Health Services, and a description of sample collection procedures in clinical and forensic cases are provided. California public health requirements, with sample reporting forms, are given. Explanations of workers' compensation coverage are provided. Extracted portions of the California Administrative Code regarding medical surveillance and emergency treatment for agricultural workers are presented. Emergency treatment protocols for organophosphates, carbamates and paraquat (4685147) and diquat (85007) poisoning are appended. [Description provided by NIOSH]
