Description:This testimony expresses the support of NIOSH for the promulgation of the proposed rule on field sanitation. While there is no new scientific evidence to be presented at this hearing, the view of NIOSH that a standard for field sanitation could and should be supported on the basis of the well known and long documented sanitary requirements of public health practice and the need for equalization of working conditions with other occupational groups is restated. Reference is made to an earlier report, March of 1981, in which a number of similar issues raised by OSHA in 1980 were addressed. [Description provided by NIOSH]
