Description:Some of the areas or activities in the gas and oil industry where there might be a potential exposure to hydrogen-sulfide (7783064) are listed. Work practices and recommendations are given for confined spaces: entry by permit only, ventilation, use of respirators; and suspect areas: monitoring, ventilation and personal protection. Monitoring, using an automatic audible warning device should be used in places where a sudden release of hydrogen- sulfide might not be expected. Initial and refresher training to alert employees to the dangers of hydrogen-sulfide should be implemented with instructions on the inspection, maintenance and repair of respiratory equipment.
