Description:A course is developed in response to the training requirements implicit in the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970. It consists of a basic program of instruction in protection from radiation. Course content includes lesson plans, lecture outlines, and laboratory exercises for a series of five lectures and two laboratory sessions. The material is suitable for presentation at the two-year college level. Specific lecture and laboratory session titles are: review of pertinent atomic and nuclear physics, uses of radiation, basic protection, nature of radiation, radiation quantities and units, radiation detection instruments and methods, and applied radiation measurements.
