Description:Air pollution is the second leading cause of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) globally, and other environmental risks are important contributors. The health sector needs to actively engage and participate in the development of policies in other sectors where many environmental risks to health are shaped, such as energy or transport policies. Creating healthier environments should be mainstreamed into policies for reducing NCDs. This will yield multiple co-benefits for health, social welfare, social equity, and the environment.
