Description:This document has been superseded and the new version can be found here. This Pocket Guide was intended to serve as a source of general industrial hygiene information for workers, employers, and occupational health professionals. The Guide provided key information and data in abbreviated tabular form for 677 chemicals or substance groupings found in the work environment. The chemicals or substances contained in this revision included all substances for which NIOSH has recommended exposure limits and those with permissible exposure limits as found in the Occupational Safety and Health Administration General Industry Air Contaminants Standard. Information provided about each of the chemicals included the chemical name and structure/formula, CAS and RTECS numbers and DOT ID and guide numbers, synonyms, trade names, conversion factors, exposure limits, immediately dangerous to life or health concentrations (IDLHs), physical description, chemical and physical properties, measurement method, incompatibilities and reactivities, personal protection and sanitation, recommendations for respirator selection, route of health hazard, first aid, target organs, and symptoms.
