Description:Introduction: Chlorpyrifos is an organophosphorus insecticide widely used in the United States to control structural termites. It is metabolized in the liver to chlorpyrifos oxon, which is further detoxified to 3,5,6-trichloro-2-pyridinol (TCP) and excreted into the urine. The mean urine elimination half-life of TCP in humans after administration of oral and dermal doses of chlorpyrifos has been estimated to be 26.9 h (2). The aim of this study was to identify significant determinants of chlorpyrifos exposure and urinary TCP that could be used to build predictive exposure models. [Description provided by NIOSH]
