Pneumoconioses are lung diseases caused by the inhalation and deposition of mineral dust. Silica, coal mine dust, and asbestos can lead to pulmonary fibrosis and other types of respiratory diseases. Silicosis is the oldest recognized form of pneumoconiosis. [Description provided by NIOSH]
