  Brief review of some of the Federal activities in the area of agricultural health and safety, with emphasis on the activities of the Environmental Protection Agency. Topics include: registration and regulation of pesticides; biological control; pesticide residues; the effects of long term low level exposures; migrant workers; pesticide transportation; and farm vehicle safety standards. Exposure and health differences between rural and urban populations are discussed. Unsolved problems are described, such as availability of health care, health of migrant workers, hazards of new and substitute pesticides, need for improved indices of exposure, reentry problem, disposal of unused pesticides, changes in methods of pesticide application, and accidental injuries.
