• Description:
  Contact dermatitis, some infections, damage from sun and heat induced changes, and arthropod induced problems are more frequent in agricultural workers than in most other workers. Chemicals can act as sensitizers, photosensitizers and irritants, and many plants contain allergens. Animal ringworm, orf and milkers nodules are all transmitted from infected animals to man. Actinic keratoses and skin cancer result from long-term exposure to sunlight; prickly heat develops in hot moist environments. The cutaneous response to most types of arthropod bites, stings, and infestations varies with the degree of sensitization. Treatment and prevention of these problems are discussed.
