Description:Fractional carbon-monoxide uptake is studied in 913 New York City transit workers. Data on individual variability suggest that the carbon-monoxide (630080) uptake test is not an accurate prediction of respiratory function. Data are presented on the relation of smoking to the decline in carbon-monoxide uptake with age. [Description provided by NIOSH]
