Description:Exposure of the upper airways of dogs to radioactive sulfur-dioxide (7446095) (S-35-O2) for 30 and 60 minutes produced progressively increasing blood S-35 levels. More S-35 is found in plasma than in red blood cells; more than half of the plasma S-35 is dialyzable, with greatest radioactivity of the nondiayzable fraction associated with alpha-globulin proteins. Blood S-35 levels are higher following in-vivo exposure than when plasma S-35 is mixed with nonradioactive red blood cells. S-35 is excreted in the urine primarily in the form of inorganic sulfate.
