  It is stated that many occupationally sustained eye injuries could be prevented, or at least lessened in severity, through the use of eye protective equipment. A listing of such equipment is offered, including goggles, face shields, welding helmets, hand shields, spectacles, and filters. The listing of such information should be of aid to those responsible for improving safety on the job. Manufacturers of each type of equipment listed in the compendium are noted along with their addresses and phone numbers. Examples of eye protective devices are listed along with the general job activity which is hazardous to the eye and the protection the device affords. Various job classifications listed include battery service, carpentry, chemical handling, concrete work, electrical occupations, food and beverage processing, chipping and grinding, mold making, foundry work, heating and pouring of metals, painting, working with plastics, plating of metals, and welding operations. Design codes for each protective device are included along with coding sheets.
