Results of U.S.P.H.S. survey at World-Bestos, Firestone Friction Plant, New Castle, Indiana.

  Air sampling for asbestos (1332214) dust was conducted at the World- Bestos, Firestone Friction Facility (SIC-3292) in New Castle, Indiana, during September, 1971. Samples contained 0.3 to 57.3 fibers greater than 5 microns per milliliter (f/ml). Average exposures in the dry mixing, wet mixing, block preforming, sheet preforming, mercury clutch preforming, finish grinding, sanding, multiple drill operator, transmission band inspection, and dry mix inspection areas exceeded the 8 hour time weighted average standard of 5f/ml. Thirty samples exceeded the 15 minute exposure limit of 10f/ml concentration.
