Description:A walk-through survey was conducted by NIOSH at Avtex Fibers, Inc., Front Royal, Virginia, on July 14-15, 1977 to evaluate the plant for possible inclusion in the cross sectional medical and reproductive of exposure to carbon-disulfide (75150). Rayon staple fibers, rayon industrial and tire yarns polyester staple fibers, (SIC-2824) and sodium-sulfate (7757826) (SIC-2819) are produced at this plant. The facility is described, and information is given on the labor force, the personnel record system, and safety, industrial hygiene, and medical programs. Due to the noncontinuity of work for a number of workers there is a problem in using this plant for the study of the effects on reproduction.
