  为什么要接种疫苗？ MMRV 疫苗可预防麻疹、腮腺炎、风疹和水痘。麻疹（M）会引起发烧、咳嗽、流鼻涕和红而流泪的眼睛，通常随后会出现覆盖全身的皮疹。它可能导致癫痫发作（通常与发烧有关）、耳部感染、腹泻和肺炎。少数情况下，麻疹可能导致脑损伤或死亡。腮腺炎（M）会引起发烧、头痛、肌肉酸痛、疲倦、食欲下降以及耳朵下方肿胀且疼痛的唾液腺。它可能导致耳聋、脑部和/或脊髓膜肿胀、睾丸或卵巢的疼痛性肿胀，以及极少数情况下的死亡。风疹（R）会引起发烧、喉咙痛、皮疹、头痛及眼部刺激。它可导致多达一半青少年和成年女性出现关节炎。如果女性在怀孕期间感染风疹，可能会导致流产，或婴儿可能出生时伴有严重的先天缺陷。水痘（V），又称 "chickenpox"，会引起瘙痒性皮疹，以及发烧、疲倦、食欲下降和头痛。它可能导致皮肤感染、肺炎、血管炎、脑部和/或脊髓膜肿胀，以及血液、骨骼或关节感染。有些感染过水痘的人多年后会出现一种称为"带状疱疹"（也称 herpes zoster）的疼痛性皮疹。大多数接种 MMRV 疫苗的人将终生受到保护。疫苗和高接种率已使这些疾病在美国变得少见得多。
