"This report (Grant No. G0133023) includes papers on current research in thru-the-earth communications. The papers presented herein summarize a workshop sponsored by the Bureau of Mines at the Colorado School of Mines, which was concerned with the problem of how information may be conveyed by electromagnetic waves propagating through rock media without the benefit of lines and cables. Some of the limitations and scope of such schemes are identified." - NIOSHTIC-2
