Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a respiratory illness (see current list of symptoms). It is caused by a virus (SARS-COV-2). It is spread from person to person through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks.

Content Notes:Create a COVID-19 Workplace Health and Safety Plan -- Identify where and how workers might be exposed to COVID-19 at work -- Develop hazard controls using the hierarchy of controls to prevent infection among workers. Include a combination of controls noted below. Use as many ‘layers’ of these controls as you can at the same time -- Engineering controls: Separate people from the hazards -- Administrative controls: Change the way people work -- Protect Workers and Clients with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) -- Educate employees about steps they can take to protect themselves at work and at home -- Take actions to create a healthy place of business for employees and clients
