CDC, in close collaboration with partners, has organized Contact Lens Health Week as a strategy to increase public awareness and promote healthy contact lens wear and care. August 19-23, 2019 marks the sixth annual Contact Lens Health Week. This year’s campaign theme is “Contact Lens Health Starts with You” to encourage eye care providers and patients alike to take an active role in ensuring and caring for their eye health. Increased awareness about the importance of proper contact lens hygiene can encourage contact lens wearers to adopt healthy habits that can reduce their chances of getting an eye infection. This year’s health messages cover three key areas:
1. Improve communication about healthy contact lens hygiene habits between eye care providers and patients
2. Risk associated with improper contact lens use
3. Regular visits to an eye care provider
