Description:Haiti has the highest burden of human rabies deaths in the Americas. In 2013, CDC began working closely with the Haitian Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Rural Development to initiate the Haiti Animal Rabies Surveillance Program (HARSP) — a cost-effective intervention to reduce human rabies deaths using a multidisciplinary strategy.
HARSP employs six key components that work together to increase detection of rabies cases and prevent transmission to humans intervention to reduce human rabies deaths using a multidisciplinary strategy.
