Description:The “Suggested Reporting Language for the HIV Laboratory Diagnostic Testing Algorithm” was originally developed by the Association of Public Health Laboratory’s (APHL’s) HIV/Hepatitis Subcommittee to provide guidance to laboratories performing the 2014 HIV Laboratory Testing Algorithm.1 This document and accompanying appendices are intended to clarify complex testing outcomes and guide laboratory reporting of test results to providers and health department surveillance programs. Information about the algorithm and definitions used throughout this document are addressed in Appendix A. The suggested reporting language presented may require adjustments to meet individual facility or jurisdiction requirements; however, major deviations should be considered carefully because misinterpretation of HIV test results may have serious implications
