La Oficina del Censo de los Estados Unidos realizó la primera Encuesta Nacional de Entrevistas de Salud (NHIS, por sus siglas en inglés) para el Centro Nacional de Estadísticas de Salud (NCHS, por sus siglas en inglés) en 1957. Desde un principio, NCHS ha hecho la protección de la información confidencial recopilada durante la entrevista NHIS su máxima prioridad. Hoy, 60 años después, NCHS continúa cumpliendo con las más altas exigencias en su compromiso de proteger la privacidad de todos y cada uno de los participantes de la encuesta.
