Description:This statement summarizes current recommendations by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) on the use of active and passive immunization for persons with altered immunocompetence. The purpose of this statement is to make ACIP recommendations more accessible for clinicians by consolidating them into a single document. ACIP statements on individual vaccines or immune globulins should be consulted for more details on safety and efficacy and on the epidemiology of the diseases. Recommendations on immunization following bone marrow transplantation will be published in a separate ACIP statement.
