    "The Healthy People 2000 Final Review is the seventh and last in a series of profiles tracking the year 2000 objectives. This report was compiled by the National Center for Health Statistics, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), with considerable input from the Department of Health and Human Service's lead agencies for the year 2000 objectives, the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion and the Office on Minority Health. The Healthy People 2000 Steering Committee and the National Committee on Vital and Health Statistics served in a review capacity. The Healthy People 2000 Review, which replaced the Prevention Profiles that monitored the 1990 national health objectives, continued the series of profiles of the Nation's health objectives as an integral part of the Department's disease prevention and health promotion initiative for the year 2000. This initiative was unveiled in September 1990 by the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services with the release of Healthy People 2000: National Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Objectives. This publication, which incorporates the 1995 midcourse review modifications to the objectives, provides the latest available tracking data for objectives and subobjectives in all priority areas throughout the decade."- p. iii
