Description:This report describes a method for standardizing definitions of episodes of nursing home care in the 1985 National Nursing Home Survey. The method shows how the information on nursing home admissions and discharges collected on the Current and Discharged Resident Questionnaires can be used to redefine the endpoints of nursing home stays. The report also explains how errors caused by missing and inconsistent nursing home admission and discharge data were resolved.
