Description:As of October 31, 1972, there was no evidence of spread of Venezuelan equine encephalitis (VEE) North of Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico. There have been no reported equine cases of VEE in the United States in 1972. One possible human VEE case was reported in October in the United States. This brings the total reported human VEE cases to two imported instances, both of which were reported from California. Surveillance activities by a number of cooperating federal, state, and local agencies to monitor possible VEE activity in mosquitoes and equines in the United States are continuing.
