Description:"This volume of the National Occupation Exposure Survey (NOES) is devoted to analysis of management responses to a questionnaire designed to provide data descriptive of health and safety conditions in the work environment of the United States. The data contained in this report is intended to characterize management policy and practice in several areas relating to worker safety and health by both industry type and facility size. Specific topics included in this report consider characteristics of the facility, such as the number of shifts per facility, employees on payroll, workers in nonadministrative areas, labor unions represented; medical services including the existence of an on site health unit, the presence of a trained individual to provide first aid, employment of physicians to provide health care, use of off site sources of health care, estimated number of physician hours devoted to industrial worker health care, use of employed nurses to provide health care, estimated number of nurses employed, estimated number of nurse hours needed, examination or tests provided by industrial facilities, required preplacement or prehiring examinations, recording of health information, required post illness medical examinations, required exit medical examinations, and retention of medical records; industrial hygiene and safety practices; and general record keeping." - NIOSHTIC-2
