In the fourth quarter of 1972, 6,847 isolations of salmonella were reported from humans, an average of 527 isolations per week (Tables I, II, and V-A). This number represents a decrease of 60 (10.2#) from the weekly average during the third quarter of 1972 and an increase of 8 (1.5#) from the weekl average of the fourth quarter of 1971. The average number of human isolations reported per week for each month and for the quarter are provided below for the last 5 years.
