Description:In 1976, 23,285 isolations of Salmonella from humans were reported to CDC, a decrease of 160 isolations (0.7%) from the previous year. j>. typhimurium (including j>. typhimurium var. Copenhagen), j>. heidelberg, and jS. agona were the first, second, and third most frequently isolated serotypes, respectively. The decrease in reported cases seen in the past 2 years reflects primarily the decreased activity of reporting centers, and not an actual decrease in the incidence of salmonellosis.
