    Third Quarter 1971 In the third quarter of 1971, 3,210 shigella isolations from humans were reported. This number represents an increase of 646 (25.2 percent) over the 2,564 isolations in the second quarter 1971 and a decrease of 1,226 (27.6 percent) from the 4,436 isolations in the third quarter of 1970 (Table I).
