Description:A synopsis of safety information for anhydrous ammonia (7429905) dealers was provided. The responsibilities of facility operators include the development of a site specific safety plan which includes emergency, maintenance and troubleshooting procedures; the avoidance of galvanized pipe for anhydrous ammonia service; the use of sign off on material manifest prior to accepting delivery; ensuring the compatibility of unloading lines for ammonia service; being certain that unloading lines are attached and secure; being available during unloading to initiate emergency plans if necessary; properly disconnecting and securing facility valves after unloading; and setting up inspection and testing procedures. Tank procedures were outlined. Instructions, precautions, and required steps for valve operation were listed. Safety requirements and precautions for vehicle towing were described.
