Description:"This guide presented some of the important attributes of successful hearing conservation programs (HCPs) and ways to achieve more effective HCPs. The responsibilities of three groups of personnel were detailed, including those representing management, those who implement the HCPs, and the affected or noise exposed employees. The seven basic components of a HCP were discussed, including noise exposure monitoring, engineering and administrative controls, audiometric evaluation, use of hearing protection devices, education and motivation, record keeping and program evaluation. The responsibilities of management, the program implementor and the employee were each delineated. OSHA requirements were outlined. Checklists were provided in the appendices to assist in evaluating HCPs on a step by step basis. A list was provided of audiovisual materials and computer software concerned with occupational noise and hearing conservation. " - NIOSHTIC-2
