Description:Health, United States, 1987 is the 12th annual report on the health status of the Nation submitted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services to the President and Congress of the United States in compliance with Section 308(a)(l) of the Public Health Service Act. It presents statistics concerning recent trends in the health care sector. This report was compiled by the National Center for Health Statistics, Centers for Disease Control. The National Committee on Vital and Health Statistics served in a review capacity. This report is divided into two parts. First, a chartbook on trends in selected measures of health status across successive birth cohorts consists of 16 charts and accompanying text. Second, 119 detailed statistical tables are organized around four major subject areas-health status and determinants, utilization of health resources, health care resources, and health care expenditures.- p. 3
