Description:"Health, United States, 1988 is the 13th annual report on the health status of the Nation submitted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services to the President and Congress of the United States in compliance with Section 308(a)( 1) of the Public Health Service Act, as amended by the Public Health Service Amendments of 1987 (Pub. L. 100-177). It presents statistics concerning recent trends in the heahh care sector. This report was compiled by the National Center for Health Statistics, Centers for Disease Control. This report is divided into two parts. First, a chartbook on geographic variation in mortality for selected causes of death consists of 29 charts and accompanying text. Second, 125 detailed statistical tables are organized around four major subject areas-health status and determinants, utilization of health resources, health care resources, and health care expenditures." - p. iii
