Description:Looking westward, this historic 1960 view, depicts Building 1 of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as it was being constructed adjacent to Clifton Road, in Atlanta, Georgia. This was formerly the main entrance to this organization. In 2011, this Building 1 was removed, and replaced by more modernized facilities. At the time of this photograph, the modern day CDC was known as the Communicable Disease Center, from 1946 until 1967.
