Description:"This document presents engineering control guidelines for reducing worker exposures to asphalt fumes during paving operations. The guidelines pertain to new highway class hot mix asphalt (HMA) pavers. Engineering controls for nonhighway class pavers and for retrofitting existing equipment will be addressed at a later date in another document. The guidelines cover ventilation systems, certification of testing by the manufacturer, operation and maintenance, and training of mechanics.
