Description:Reducing health disparities among our nation’s youth is a major priority for the Division of Adolescent and School Health (DASH). As defined by the CDC, health disparities are preventable differences in the burden of disease, injury and violence, or in opportunities to achieve optimal health experienced by socially disadvantaged populations. Populations can be defined by factors such as race or ethnicity, gender, education or income, disability, geographic location (e.g., rural or urban), or sexual orientation.
