  During the Zika outbreak in Brazil, CDC scientists used genomic data to rapidly develop a test to detect emerging Zika virus strains.
  
  They developed, validated, and distributed this test protocol to labs throughout the hemisphere within three weeks of receiving the first positive sample of Zika virus.
