Description:This chart depicts foodborne outbreaks with a reported single setting from 1998 through 2008. Among the 11,627 foodborne disease outbreaks with a reported single setting where food was prepared, 68 percent were associated with food prepared in a restaurant or deli, 9 percent in a private home, and 7 percent by a caterer or banquet facility. The remaining 5 percent were associated with an institution, such as a prison or school.
