    Minority Media are the Messengers

The powerful black media, a trusted source among African Americans, is getting the word out that it is important for African Americans to get their influenza vaccination. A National Influenza Vaccination Week op-ed by Dr. Nadine Gracia (Acting) Director, Office of Minority Health, HHS, recently ran in African American publications citing that “During 2009, when H1N1 flu was widespread, African Americans were hospitalized from flu complications twice as often as non-Hispanic whites.” http://www.jacksonadvocateonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/2A-flu_theJacksonAdvocate-1.pdf
