Description:More than 20 years after the September 11, 2001 (9/11) attacks, people continue to experience disaster-related physical and mental health conditions. Ask people who may have been present at the World Trade Center site about their exposures, especially those with respiratory symptoms, chronic rhinosinusitis, gastroesophageal reflux, cancer, chronic pain, psychiatric symptoms, and substance use disorders. Know how to evaluate, diagnose, and treat people with conditions that could be related to exposure to the 9/11 attacks and the aftermath. Take a coordinated approach to care and refer people to health centers affiliated with the World Trade Center (WTC) Health Program, which all offer multidisciplinary care.
