Poisoning by carbon- dioxide (124389) used for anesthetizing the animals before slaughtering can lead to accidents with knives and machinery. Other hazards are caused by carbon-monoxide (630080) from trucks and space heaters in poorly ventilated spaces, and hydrogen-sulfide (7783064) and methane (74828) from decomposing organic matter in closed areas such as trucks.
